Futuuri was
founded in
September 2000.
Futuuri means
“futures
contract” and
founders thought
it would be a
suitable name
for the business
economic
students at the
University of
Lapland.
Futuuris mission
is to foster its
member’s
professional
knowledge and to
offer its
members
connections to
the
organizations
and interest
groups in
branch.
In the autumn
2001 began the
first 30
students who
graduate to the
master of
Economics. Major
subjects for the
Futuuri students
are marketing
and accounting,
minor subject
can be for
example business
administration
or information
technology.
Economic
students are
nowadays also
members of SEFE,
The union of
economics of
Finland.
The Executive
Board is
selected every
year and it is
the highest
authority in
administrational
and executive
issues in the
Futuuri.
Futuuri today
Futuuri has
nowadays over
250 members and
hopefully the
amount of
members will
increase
enormously in
the future.
Futuuri
organizes
leisure
activities for
its members, for
example the
overall parties
(we have safe
black
overalls!). The
most important
parties in
autumn are
Fuksiaiset,
Annual
celebration and
Christmas party,
and in the
spring there's
Laskiainen,
Poronkusema and
Wappu. Futuuri
has achieved the
championship of
the Pint party
2001 and
Futuuris
cancan-girl team
(Kaamasen
Kievarin
Kaarinat) became
3rd in the
Poronkusema in
2002. Futuuri
also informs its
members about
the economic
students
happenings in
Finland, for
example about
the Rinnerieha
in Jyväskylä.
